Specialist Cardiac Rehabilitation & Recovery
Based at Bath University, Myo Rehabilitation believe cardiac rehabilitation should be bespoke, empowering, and built for lasting health.
Our structured programmes combine a deep clinical focus with lifestyle support to guide you from early recovery through to long-term fitness and resilience.
Everything we do is guided by two principles:
Individualised, bespoke rehabilitation built around you. My Own
No two hearts are the same. That’s why every element of your rehabilitation is tailored to your specific medical history, goals, preferences, and lifestyle.
From clinical assessments to exercise prescription, nutrition, and psychological support, your programme is designed to be truly your own.
Protecting the one heart you have - for life. My Only
We go beyond recovery. Our goal is to position every patient to avoid future cardiac events through long-term risk reduction, lifestyle change, and empowering education.
We help you build lasting resilience so you can protect your only heart for years to come.
What is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist?
A Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) is a healthcare professional who specialises in using exercise as medicine. They assess how the body responds to movement, understand the physiological impact of disease, and design tailored exercise programmes to help people recover safely and improve their long-term health.
How is a CEP different from a personal trainer or fitness professional?
Unlike general fitness professionals, CEPs are trained to work with complex medical conditions and within healthcare environments. They combine physiology, pathology and risk management to deliver exercise programmes that are both safe and clinically appropriate, not just effective for fitness.
What conditions do CEPs work with?
CEPs are particularly well suited to supporting people living with or recovering from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory illness, cancer, and recovery from major medical events or surgery.
Where are Clinical Exercise Physiologists typically based?
You’ll commonly find CEPs working in cardiac rehabilitation programmes, long-term condition management services, post-surgical recovery settings, and community health and prevention programmes.
Do CEPs work with other healthcare professionals?
Yes. CEPs often work as part of a multidisciplinary care team alongside cardiologists, physiotherapists, nurses and other clinicians. At Myo, this includes cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, physiotherapists and cardiac nurses.
Is the goal simply to get people exercising more?
No, it goes well beyond that. The role of a CEP is to restore confidence in movement, rebuild physical capacity and support sustainable lifestyle change. It’s about long-term health, not just activity levels.
What makes Myo Rehabilitation’s approach different?
Myo’s programmes are built around two principles.
My Own: every programme is bespoke, tailored to your condition, goals and lifestyle.
My Only: rehabilitation isn’t just about recovery, it’s about building the knowledge, confidence and physical capacity needed to reduce the risk of future health events.
